One of my favourite city landmarks is the Boston Public Library. A renaissance inspired Beaux-Art masterpiece, the BPL is a palace for the people. With an incredible facade, huge wall spanning murals and breath taking Catalan Vaulted ceilings, the BPL has so much to offer. From the green Banker’s Lamps of Bates Hall, to the grand staircase and the pillar lined arch walkways of the Courtyard, it felt like they spared no expense. If you want quiet luxury with an editorial city feel, then you want a Boston Public Library Engagement Session.

This couple had a vision of effortless city editorial for their engagement session. It was also the dead of winter and they really didn’t want to be outside too much in the cold. After a few discussion on locations and where we could have it, we landed on the Boston Public Library. It screamed Boston and had both an inside and outside option, perfect for when it got too cold and, on this particularly day, too rainy.
In order to photograph at the BPL, you have to secure a permit and arrive before it opens for the Public. To me that’s perfect, because it means we have the whole thing to ourselves. We started off at Bate’s hall, then went down the Grand Staircase where we finished off at the Courtyard. Every location had so much to offer and it made it so easy to prompt my couple into natural posing.
