Acadia National Park is, in my opinion, a sleeper of all the national parks. It’s the crown jewel of the North Atlantic Coast with over 49 000 acres 158 miles of hiking trails. If you want mountains, wetlands, ocean, cliffs, meadows, forests, Acadia has it all.

For their Acadia National Park engagement session, they wanted two different locations. They wanted one location to be in the mountains because they felt like they hit the mountaintop when they met each other. The second location was by an ocean lighthouse because they felt like they could always find their way in each other. So, we chose Beech Mountain and the Bar Harbour Head Light Station.
We hiked about 20 minutes to get the the spot I wanted to photograph at on Beech Mountain. We didn’t go all the way up to the summit because it would be filled with people but this spot gave as an incredible view all the lakes the park had to offer. After scaling a few rocks to get to a flat landing, we watched the cotton candy clouds. When you’re on the side of the mountain, it feels like everything is free, so you yourself become free. These two said they feel awkward in front of the lens, but put them in front of the mountains and awkwardness totally melted away.
After, we finished the session at Bar Harbour Head Light Station. It has a beautiful light house that the sun sets behind. The light house is perched along the cliffs of the Bar Harbor coast. What an incredible sight. We wanted to wait until dusk because we had lamps that would incorporate an ethereal feel. Check out the moon that decided to rise just as the sun set.
