A Lakehouse Wedding on the Waterfront | B + E

First Touch at Lakehouse, a Sapphire Event Group

This Wedding at the Lakehouse, a Sapphire Event Group Venue, was breathtaking. It was the end of winter, but it didn’t feel that way, we went outside and chased the sunset as if it was a brisk spring day. The Lakehouse, once the Lakeside Villa, was fully renovated and completed in 2024. It features modern, clean spaces with picturesque bohemian inspired settings. This waterfront venue offers an outdoor and indoor ceremony and cocktail hour options, and a spacious ballroom. Located just south of Boston, it’s a luxurious alternative to Newport and Cape Cod venues with its 500 feet of shoreline of the West Lake.

Follow me along for this Lakehouse Wedding! It was sprinkled with so many DIY touches by the bride but it looked so professional. Unlike so many contemporary weddings, they chose to forego the first look for a first touch. The bride, however, chose to do an emotional first look with her father. Since it was the end of winter, they opted to have their ceremony indoors. At the Lakehouse, their indoor option makes you feel like you are still outside with their incredibly floor-to-ceiling windows. After their ceremony, it was so warm, we were able to take photos outside. We ran around with their wedding party, and headed to the dock for some fun golden hour couple formals.

A First Touch At The Lakehouse

I wanted to have a few words on a first touch. Oftentimes, it’s been common practice to have a first look in contemporary weddings. It allows you to have a moment before all the craziness takes place. It also affords you time to hang with your guests during cocktail hour as you can take many of your photos prior to the ceremony. However, some may choose to go more traditional and have the first time you see each other at the ceremony. Cue the first touch.

A first touch is a way to have a quiet moment with your partner before the hustle and bustle of the wedding day. Unlike a first look, you do not see each other, but like a first look, it allows your to slow down and get present. This couple chose to do a first touch to maintain the integrity of the christian tradition to not see your partner until the altar. During their first look, they held hands, shared their feelings of anticipation and took time to pray over their wedding day. It felt as if time stood still for them, and it was incredible. Come have a look with me, at their first touch, and the rest of their wedding day.
